Donner Pass Train Tunnels and Wagon Route Walk with Paul Ackerman

Participants will enjoy the thrill of walking through 145 year old train tunnels bored through solid granite, and walking along the wagon routes that date back to 1844.  We will review the history of the Central Pacific Railroad train tunnels over Donner Pass as well as the major wagon routes that preceded them.  If time allows we will take a small detour route to observe some wonderful Indian petroglyph remains.

Duration: about 3 to 4 hours Bring lunch, water, camera, lug sole hiking shoes, walking stick, and a flashlight.

Cost: $10 NLTHS members; $20 non-members
