It’s time to dust off the snowshoes and unpack the winter wear because winter is officially here! Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) on Saturday, January 12th, between 10AM and 3 PM for its sixth annual National Winter Trails Day extravaganza. Participants may register for a snowshoe hike, learn about snow core sampling, receive helpful winter safety information, demo gear, craft their own snow shelter and be a potential raffle prize winner! The festivities will be held in Tahoe Meadows just off of Highway 431/Mt. Rose Highway. Free guided snowshoe hikes from Tahoe Meadows to the Tahoe Meadows Overlook and surrounding areas will take place throughout the day. Each hike has its own theme and guest interpreter. Don’t forget your snowshoes! (A limited supply of snowshoes will be available for participant use). National Winter Trails Day is an excellent way for the community to learn more about the exciting array of winter recreation opportunities on the Tahoe Rim Trail and in the Lake Tahoe area. So bundle up, grab some free coffee and treats and join in what is sure to be an exciting day of winter fun!
