Catch The Rare 'Uber-Moon' From A Kayak

Supermoon Kayak Tours in Lake Tahoe

This weekend's full moon, at it's peak on September 27th and 28th, is much more than your usual full moon - it's a Super Supermoon (Tahoetopians in the know affectionately refer to it as the Uber-Moon) the biggest, brightest and closest Supermoon of the year, and even more, it includes a total lunar eclipse.

Lake Tahoe will offer clear night skies and unobscured views of this rare event from nearly every vantage point and in addition, the unique opportunity to see this lunar spectacle on from the water on a kayak.

The Tahoe Adventure Company has taken their monthly full-moon kayak tours to a new level and put together a special package to view the supermoon lunar eclipse while paddling over the moonlit waters of Lake Tahoe.

The supermoon reflecting on Lake Tahoe is truly a rare, mesmerizing and spectacular sight. Accompanied by highly trained guides, and including hot drinks and snacks, participants will have the chance to witness the first supermoon lunar eclipse in more than three decades while floating on the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe. Since 1900 there have only been 5 supermoon occurrences and the next supermoon lunar eclipse won't take place until 2033.

The full Harvest Moon with perigee occurs when the moon is closest to Earth in its month-long orbit, and during a lunar eclipse, when the moon passes into the Earth's shadow, casting a reddish hue on the moon. Because it's so close to Earth, a Super Full Moon looks about 7% bigger than an average full moon.

All ages and skill levels are welcome in this unique event taking place on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 5:30-8:30pm. For reservations and more information, visit www.TahoeAdventureCompany.com or call 530-913-9212.
