Join us for the Northstar Snowshoe Social & Race Series taking place December 22 (USSSA National Championships Qualifier), January 27 (Tahoe Rim Tour & Race), and March 3 (Truckee Tahoe Humane Society Fundraiser). The December and March races will feature a 5k, 10k and kid's races while the January race, in conjunction with the Tahoe Rim Tour & Race, will be a point-to-point 21K snowshoe from the North Tahoe High School to the Northstar Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center. The third race will be a fundraiser for the Truckee Tahoe Humane Society and we will allow dogs on the cross country trails that day only. There will be fun for all ages at the finish of each race. During the December and March race dates we'll have live music at the finish along with snacks, beers and sodas, 10k awards and a raffle for all. During the January race there will be a chili lunch, awards and a raffle.

 

December 22 & March 3 Race Details:

COST

  • Pre-Registration: $30 Adults, $15 Children 12 and Under
  • Day-Of: $40 Adults, $20 Children 12 & Under
  • All participants will receive the following: Cross Country Trail Pass, 2 drink coupons (beer or soda), snacks at the finish and a raffle ticket

REGISTRATION

  • Pre-Registration: Participants can register online, by calling the Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 530.562.3270, or by calling or visiting the Season Pass & Tickets Office at 1.800.466.6784.
  • Day-Of: Participants can register at the event check-in located in the Season Pass & Tickets Office.

START TIMES

  • Registration/Check-In: 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Race: 11:30 a.m.

COURSES (will be a different course each race):

  • 5k Walk and Fun Run which will start and finish at the Northstar Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center. This is a rolling course incorporating groomed trails and un-groomed single-track sections. It can be a fun and relaxed social jaunt if you walk or a pressure free fitness challenge if you run.
  • 10k Competitive Run which will start and finish at the Northstar Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center. This is a rolling course incorporating groomed trails and un-groomed single-track sections. It is a challenge of endurance, speed, and technical snowshoe running skills.
  • 500m Kid's Rising Star Rumble is for ages 6 - 8 and will be on groomed and un-groomed trails.
  • 1k Kid's Rising Star Rumble is for ages 9 - 12 and will be on groomed and un-groomed trails.

PRIZES

  • 10k Competitive Run: Each race, product prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the men's and women's divisions.
  • 5k Walk and Fun Run: Each race, each participants will receive a ticket to the raffle for the chance to win great prizes.

DETAILS

Following the race there will be snacks, beer and sodas for participants, the raffle, the 10k awards ceremony and live music by a local musician.

 

January 27 Tahoe Rim Tour Race Details:

COST: Ski Divisions

  • Pre-Registration: $45 per person ($10 Juniors) if entry is postmarked by January 13th or online by 8pm on January 19th.
  • Day of Registration: $60 per person ($15 Juniors) between 7:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. at the North Tahoe High School (cash or check only).
  • Ski (Classic & Skate) participants can register with Far West Nordic at www.farwestnordic.org.
  • Snowshoe participants can register either with Far West Nordic or thought the Northstar eStore.
  • All registration fees include a cross-country trail pass for race day.

COST: Snowshoe Division

  • Pre-Registration: $45 per person if registered on/before January 21, 2012.
  • Day of Registration: $60 per person between 7:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. at the North Tahoe High School.
  • Snowshoe participants can pre-register online, by calling the Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 530.562.3270, or by calling or visiting the Season Pass & Tickets Office at 1.800.466.6784.

  • Product prizes will be awarded to the top 3 men and women finishers of the snowshoe division.

DETAILS

Far West Nordic Ski Association and Northstar at Tahoe are proud to present the 6th annual Tour Rim Tour & Race, a point-to-point 26K race from North Tahoe High School in Tahoe City to the Northstar at Tahoe Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Far West Junior Nordic Program. The snowshoe division will qualify participants for the overall Northstar Series Crown. Following the race participants will be included in a lunch, the raffle and the awards ceremony.
